Claims Handler
Reporting to the Claims Manager
Location - Belfast
The Role
We are seeking an organised and empathetic Claims Handler to manage a caseload of insurance claims from first notification to final settlement. The Claims Handler will assess coverage under the Structural Warranty policy, investigate details, negotiate settlements, ensuring fair outcomes for our customers while preventing fraudulent claims.
Key Duties
Take details of new claims, verify policy terms and guide claimants through next steps
Correctly record all details and adhere to service level agreements
Provide excellent customer service, handing situations with tact, empathy and awareness of vulnerable customers
Liaise directly with claimants, developers, loss adjusters and key stakeholders as required to proactively handle the claim to conclusion
Provide advice on all aspects of the Structural Warranty policy and ICW Consumer Code for New Homes in relation to cover and claims
Share best practice with team members and colleagues in other departments
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- 5 GCSEs grade C or above, including Maths and English, or equivalent NVQ
- Ability to work with confidential and sensitive data
- Experience of working in a busy office environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a confident, clear telephone manner
- Organised with the ability to work under pressure
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to use own initiative
- Excellent computer skills with experience of MS Office and Word
