What you’ll be doing

As a Plan Checker, you will be responsible for reviewing plans and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with Building Regulations, associated legislation and ICW Technical Standards. Working closely with clients, architects, inspectors and internal stakeholders, you will:

• Undertake detailed plan checks, identifying areas of non-compliance and providing clear, structured technical feedback.
• Review amendments and supporting documentation, ensuring previous comments have been addressed and maintaining a robust audit trail throughout the process.
• Support the commissioning process, working with colleagues to ensure regulatory requirements are met and projects progress efficiently.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation, ensuring files are organised, compliant and audit-ready.
• Collaborate with Site Inspectors and technical teams, ensuring a consistent approach to compliance and service delivery.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, architects and designers, providing a responsive, professional and solution-focused service.
• Support audit and quality assurance activities, helping to maintain high standards and regulatory compliance across all projects.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders, contributing to a positive customer experience and promoting confidence in ICW's services.

What we’re looking for

• Registered Building Inspector (minimum Class 2A, with progression expected).
• Chartered membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS, CABE or CIOB, or working towards membership.
• Experience of plan checking within Building Control across residential and/or commercial developments.
• Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, associated legislation and compliance requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships.
• The ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise multiple projects effectively.
• A structured and analytical approach to problem solving.
• Strong IT skills and experience using a range of software systems.
