What you’ll be doing

As a Registered Building Inspector, you will carry out inspections and assessments throughout the construction process, ensuring developments comply with Building Regulations and ICW Technical Standards. Working closely with developers, builders and colleagues, you will:

  • Carry out inspections throughout the construction process, identifying defects, areas of non-compliance and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on Building Regulations, warranty requirements and associated legislation.
  • Support developers and builders in achieving compliance, helping them understand requirements and implement practical solutions.
  • Assess residential, mixed-use and commercial developments, ensuring projects meet regulatory and technical standards.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and reports, communicating findings clearly and professionally.
  • Build positive relationships with developers, contractors and stakeholders, supporting a collaborative approach to achieving quality outcomes.
  • Support colleagues through knowledge sharing and collaboration, contributing to continuous improvement across the team.
  • Manage your workload effectively, balancing site visits, reporting requirements and customer expectations to deliver excellent service.

What we’re looking for

  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS, CABE or CIOB.
  • Registered Building Inspector at Level 2A and/or 2B and/or 2D.
  • Experience of assessing plans and inspecting residential, mixed-use and commercial developments within Building Control.
  • Excellent knowledge of Building Regulations, technical warranty standards and associated legislation.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy and varied workload.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work independently when required.
  • Strong IT skills and experience using a range of software applications.
